天
Ten · Sky
蔵
Kura · Vault
Tenkura is an independent software studio founded on a single conviction: software should be something you own, not something you rent.
The Name: Sky (天) and Vault (蔵)
In Japanese, Ten (天) represents the sky—vast, open, weightless, and clear.
Kura (蔵) refers to the traditional earthen, fireproof storehouses historically built across Japan to safeguard a family’s most sacred heirlooms, grain, and treasures from fire and disaster.
We merged these two concepts into Tenkura (天蔵). Modern digital life requires both: the fluid, weightless freedom of the sky (seamless streaming, wireless local networks, instant intelligence) combined with the impenetrable, sovereign protection of a private stone vault (your data, your hard drives, your privacy).
The Three Creeds
01 / CREED
Ownership First
Your music library, your family conversational models, and your local sports sessions remain yours. We build software that connects directly to storage you own—rejecting subscription lock-in, rented catalogs, and advertising surveillance.
02 / CRAFT
Subtractive Elegance (Ma)
Rooted in the Japanese concept of Ma (間)—the intentional negative space that gives meaning to the whole. If a feature or visual element generates cognitive noise or serves an advertiser rather than the user, it is subtracted.
03 / PERMANENCE
Built to Endure
We prioritize technologies that survive decades: local Go binaries, embedded SQLite databases, standard OpenSubsonic audio protocols, and self-hosted AI models. If our cloud servers were to vanish tomorrow, your software will still work.
The Suite
Our craft is expressed through our tools:
- Tenkura Wave — The pure music sanctuary and personal cloud vault.
- Tenkura Cove — Private home AI running on your own hardware.
- Tenkura Pulse — Real-world pickup basketball and circuit organizer.
- Tenkura Host — The headless Go server daemon and vault foundation.
